Twenty-five years ago Baffin Footwear began manufacturing insulated and non-insulated footwear products. While traditional molded boots are suitable for some conditions, they are not ideal for cold temperatures. Baffin combines leading molding technology with a foam-based inner boot system, which creates a hybrid style of high-performance footwear. I have been using these boots for several weeks, and am completely satisfied with their design and construction. I wear a size 9 1/2 shoe, so the size ten boot is slightly generous, but even without heavy socks it is comfortable for walking. This 16" tall boot is perfect for jobs I do in water. Yesterday I was in water that came 3/4 of the way to the top, and my socks stayed dry. Ticks are a problem in New England, so I want a boot where I can tuck in the legs of my trousers easily, as these do. The red soles are treaded, but not so deeply as to pick up chunks of mud that can dry and fall off in clumps in the house. The heel has a maple leaf imprint, hockey fans! Sidewall thickness measured 3/4" from the top is .112 inch, just shy if 1/8 inch, which is heavy-duty in my book. The inner cloth lining is bonded to the rubber and seamless. My clam-digging brother will be jealous when he sees these!
Update: Wore 'em almost every day while working outdoors for the nine months that ticks are active (above 32F). They are showing their age, as the rubber dries out, but have not cracked through anywhere, in spite of hard use. I think they'll last a second year ... stay tuned!
2nd update (December 2012): Still going strong for a second year. Socks are dry after standing in ten inches of water. These boots are so indispensable now that I bought a back-up pair, just in case. I haven't had to use them.

The boots are heavy duty and well made. They are a little large for a size 11 as are most boots, but certainly a good value for the price.

This boot is an excellent value. It stays in the garage or back porch just waiting to get in the mud or wet. Simple and durable, wide number of uses: gardening, deep in the weeds, or any "hose chores", i.e., washing the car, the deck, etc. I couldn't find it locally in my size, using Amazon saved a lot of calls and driving.
