I have worn both the the low-cut and the mid-cut Nevados, starting in 2005, and found that they are well worth their low price. I use them for hiking and as a work shoe, and while they may wear out a bit faster than some of the higher priced boots, they are comfortable and rugged enough to last several months to a year or more. I have always bought these boots at Walmart (at a cost of $30-$40), and believe that dollar-for-dollar, they are a better value than many of the high priced boots I've worn, especially since many high $ shoes often have issues of their own with fit and/or durability. While I'm not a big Walmart fan, one benefit of buying there is that you can actually "fit" the shoe BEFORE buying, avoiding the hassle of trying to get a proper fit with an online order. Also, if you have problems with a defect early on, it's usually easier and quicker to return an item to Walmart. Finally, if you're using the shoe mainly for hiking, I suggest that you get a half-size larger than you normally wear and, if needed, wear a thicker sock.

By Kristy Pruitt
My husband is very rough on shoes. It doesn't seem to matter what brand they are or how much they cost, they rarely last him more than a few months. His last pair had holes in them within two weeks!
So I saw the price on these and figured I would give them a try, not expecting much. Well, it has been nearly two months since he started wearing them, and they're holding up very nicely. I'm thinking about going ahead and ordering him another pair so he'll have them when he manages to destroy this one. :)
