These boots are good for EMS providers. I have two gripes about them. One is that they get scuffed very easily, The second is that they get smelly very quickly. I have owned three 5.11 boots before and have been very satisfied with them all, never have I had the smelly problem before but it can be embarrassing. Also, not as much a gripe as it is annoying is the aglets on the laces break easily and you will probably need another set of laces in the course of these boots lifespan so consider that when you buy them, it might be nice to have an extra set of laces. Otherwise good boot, able to run in them without significant discomfort, and they are most certainly waterproof as I used them in Hurricane Sandy without a problem.

This pair is only slightly different from my first pair simply put they are water proof. These boots come ready to go to work no breaking in they feel great right out the box.

The boots are awesome in all ways except the finish. they do scuff extremely easily, but that's my only complaint. They mold to your feet right out of the box and can keep you on your feet for the full 8 hours. They are water tight, and barring standing on a sheet of ice, the traction is excellent. The only reason for the 4 stars was the scuffing which is something to think about. I don't have a particularly rough job and I can't for the life of me think if what I did to scuff up the finish but it wasn't much unfortunately. All in all a solid boot if they don't have to be kept perfect.
